Summer is almost over, and I thought that trying to recall and remember the best summer day I’ve had this year would be a nice reflective way of ending the 2026 summer (even though the calendar summer is still going so are the heatwaves and droughts).
My best day this summer so far must have been on Thursday. On that very day everything fell into place, including the weather, which was just perfect like the summers I remembered from my childhood. I felt rested after waking up and so ready to face the world.
If I’m totally honest with you, I don’t want to face the world every day, I don’t always have tonnes of creative energy, willingness and stamina to create or engage with creativity, and creative energy. As a very imperfect human I’m prone to human condition of tiredness, overwhelm and burnout. But that very day none of that mattered I was content, and able to do everything and anything I set my mind on.
That Thursday was very much in keeping with my summer routine. But what made that day so very unique was:
– how present and happy I felt,
– I wasn’t tired. Tiredness can affect my ability to work, think and my connection to creativity,
– I was in a very calm and content place physically emotionally and creatively,
– my body throughout the summer has been nourished by wonderful home-grown food, relatively slow eating and not eating foods that don’t agree with me (food has a massive impact on my concentration). I started the day with an oat matcha (half a cup of oat milk and half water) and black-currant smoothie (black-currant from my mum’s garden),
– I wrote in my diary, read my book, read my affirmation list (I started practicing affirmations yet again after a very constructive and empowering chat with a career mentor.),
– I spend at least 30 minutes in the garden picking fruits and veggies from the garden before starting my workday,
– work was easy, not forced and my creativity was cooperating and willing to co-create with me,
– I finished all the creative work I planned for that day earlier as I worked with my creativity and creative energy, not against it, which meant that I didn’t have to take too many breaks in between the activities,
– because I finished all my work early, I had more time to spend with my kids and my family. And this is what life is all about, time, quality time with the people we love, right?
I would love to hear from you.
What was your best day in past summer/winter so far?
