“A Property in the City”

Clever Girl still remembers the 90’s when the property in London was quite affordable. It was just before the Russians, the Asians, and… the other Asians, together with the property developers priced everyone out, and that was precisely the time when the Clever Girl invested in property herself.

Clever Girl owns the house she lives in, and a couple of smaller properties, which she rents out. She knows that apart from being a very clever girl, she is also a very lucky girl. But as we all know, not everyone owns a property in the city and unfortunately, there are more and more people renting.

Recently Clever Girl found herself in a couple of situations where she was disgusted by the way people, who are on the property ladder, treated the ones who are not.

At first Clever Girl was talking to a group of women at the school when one of them (woman A) asked another one (woman B) about her commute to school (B lives quite a distance from the school & despite what she says, it takes her shit lots of time to get to school in the morning). Woman B replied politely about the timing and, quite nonchalantly remarked that the woman A can’t afford to buy, or even rent a property in her area.

WTH!!! How do people know what other people can afford or what they can’t!!! What if a woman A is a millionaire, just not showing off!!! In fact, Clever Girl knows that woman A is pretty wealthy and can afford much more than people think.

Another situation that Clever Girl found even more appalling was when woman C stopped talking to woman D as soon as she (C) realised that D was “only” renting her flat. Why? But why? WTH is wrong with you people!!! First of all, we all know what the property market in London is like!!! The prices are crazy as shit and out of reach for a lot of people. Secondly, why and how anyone dares to judge other people’s financial possibilities, and what’s even worse, judge others on this basis only.

Clever Girl knows and has worked with millionaires living in small rented apartments, doing so because they wanted to use their wealth consciously; by building a better society instead of accumulating wealth for its own sake. Clever Girl was very uncomfortable with both situations and decided that from now on she was going to dress down and not talk about her properties, money, investments and her job to filter the shitty people out. Life is too short to deal with shit heads.
