Some of my creative value, which often intertwine with my personal values are:
– Re-use materials and products already in circulation. For new artworks and when I’m on a film set, I reuse costumes, props, locations and materials.
– Allow intuition to guide me, even when I feel scared and in doubt. This one isn’t always easy, but I try my best to overcome my fears.
– Slow productivity takes central stage over toxic productivity. If I have too much to do, the quality of my work isn’t what I would expect from myself, and since I’m not an AI, I don’t want to associate my work with slop.
– Take a minimalistic approach to projects. I tend to overcomplicate my projects and use way too many mediums all at the same time. If you are the only person doing all the work and running your creative/artistic practice, it’s impossible to keep up with the overcomplication. Hence, my approach to creative projects and artworks needs to be minimalistic.
– Prioritise quality over quantity.
– Focus on long-term sustainability, the environmental and financial impact of my private life, and my creative art practice matter in the long run. As I already mentioned, creativity and making art are part of my personality, which means that I need to think long-term as I want to be an artist and a creator for the rest of my life. However, I don’t want my creative desires and art projects to negatively impact the natural environment, so I need to be mindful and find solutions that are kind to Mother Nature while still helping me express my creativity.
– If tired and irritated, walk away and rest.
